QUBYX Is Going To Team Up With Display Manufacturers To Increase The Value Of Image Reproduction Hardware

The real requirement for monitor calibration is actually very obvious, as without it you will never be able to see images as they were intended. This is true for both, TV and computer displays used for different purposes, either for professional or home consumer needs.

Nowadays most displays are provided with factory calibration. Unfortunately the monitors almost never reproduce colors exactly the same, even if they are identical brands and models. This can be explained by the fact that even the same models can be manufactured in different facilities and not in the same way. In addition, despite of being factory calibrated, displays tend to change over time, which influences the accuracy of the image reproduction.

Beyond this, many TV and computer displays are provided with different ‘professional’ calibration pre-sets, which are apparently aimed to improve and adjust image quality. In fact such settings shouldn’t be considered as the accurate ones.

A lot of display manufacturers offer calibration software and a puck packaged with the display to let a user to perform software calibration if he wants to. Software calibration works by modifying the colors via the computer graphics board and loading those colors every time after booting up into your operating system.

But if you are serious about calibration, the best options for you are to use a display’s LUT (Look Up Table) or 3D LUT. Hardware calibration generates a Look-Up Table that is written into the monitor to map all the colors. Brightness, contrast and color levels will be automatically adjusted by the display through calibration software. Compared to software, hardware calibration (so called ‘internal’ calibration) is more accurate, faster and easier.

Qubyx releases a new version of its display calibration and quality control software PerfectLum 3.9 that now complies with the ACR guidelines (Technical Standard for Electronic Practice of Medical Imaging)* set forth by the American College of Radiology.

Other improvements have been made to the QA section:

Qubyx Announces the Launch of the Sensor Module – MicroEye

QUBYX Software Technologies, the developer of display calibration and quality assurance software solutions, has announced the launch of the QUBYX Sensor Module, a colorimeter and luminance meter for displays. Compact, extremely accurate and easily integrated device will keep color and brightness stable for the life of a display.

Despite of being factory calibrated, displays tend to change over time, which influences the accuracy of the image reproduction. When color and luminance reproduction counts, like in the medical imaging industry, calibration becomes even more critical. External measuring devices are not the best option, as these need to be handled manually. QUBYX receives an FDA clearance for PerfectLum in bundle with DELL U3014

07/10/2014, Wilmington, DE, USA – QUBYX, an expert in medical imaging and color calibration fields, has announced that the bundle of PerfectLum DICOM calibration application and Dell UltraSharp U3014 has received the Food & Drug Administration 510(k) market clearance. Cleared by the FDA, PerfectLum and Dell U3014 bundle will now be marketed in the US and other countries as a display for viewing medical images, review and analysis by trained medical practitioners.

Dell Ultrasharp U3014 overview

Dell U3014 is a 30” 4MP primary display with IPS panel, extremely stable LED backlight and a resolution of 2560×1600 pixel. With U3014 the user can see more detail in gray shades and view life like images at 120% typical color gamut and color depth of 1.07 billion colors enabled by the 12-bit internal processing and a 14-bit look-up table (LUT).

QUBYX PerfectLum DICOM calibration software enhances the performance of displays in accordance with medical imaging requirements, including NEMA DICOM part 14 GSDF.
